The Golden Horse

Original text of Saint-Louis:
The horse, crafted from grey and white crystal rods using a blowtorch, takes centre stage at the heart of the composition. Driven by its indomitable energy, it rears, invincible and free, in a perfect balance between brute strength and infinite grace. Its hooves cut through the air as its mane dances in the wind. Haloed by an incandescent millefiori crafted from a multitude of sugar drops in shimmering tones of red, orange and yellow, the horse exudes power and energy.
The composition is set in a clear crystal cylinder, which is enclosed in a calotte composed of a layer of amethyst crystal followed by a layer of white enamelled crystal. The latter is then covered with a layer of clear crystal on which a white filigree is etched using shears. The paperweight is thus decorated with dancing, vibrant arabesques to echo the strength and energy of the fire horse showcased in its centre.
The overall composition is then covered with a thicker layer of clear crystal.
On the back, the paperweight is decorated with sandblasted arabesques that evoke flames full of life. These arabesques are hand-painted with 24-carat gold. When the paperweight is moved, the elements come to life and change depending on the angle.
