The Sea Urchin paperweight imagined by Claire Le Sage is the latest demonstration of the artist skill of the Saint-Louis glassworkers. Using the „bundles“ of rods technique, the artisans have created shiny, silky swirls from canes of purple and flannel crystal and white enamel. Recalling the bar shell of the Sea Urchin, the fragile trophy of the sea in subtle shades of crimson, this paperweight enhances the beauty of the colour to create a remarkable optical illusion. Matt-cut from clear crystal, the 14 rows of spines heighten the realism of this beautiful object.
